Agreement between
the Institute of Physics and the Polish Physical Society
for the Polish Physical Society to become a Companion Society
of the Institute of Physics
To enhance scientific relations and improve communications between
physicists in Poland and in Britain and Ireland and to extend benefits
of membership of the Institute of Physics to members of the
Polish Physical Society, the Institute of Physics and the Polish Physical
Society hereby agree that the Polish Physical Society shall become a Companion
Society of the Institute of Physics.
To this effect:
a) All members of the Polish Physical Society may attend Institute of
Physics conferences at Institute member rates.
b) All members of the Polish Physical Society may have access to the
Institute of Physics' London headquarters during normal office hours,
including access to the Members' Room and Library and
facilities available within them.
c) Members of the Polish Physical Society who pay an Affiliation Fee
will also:
i. receive copies of the Institute of Physics' membership magazine
Physics World;
ii. have access to any three of the Institute of Physics' electronic
journals for their own personal
use, with the same number of permitted downloads as allowed for Institute
members (currently restricted to six full-text downloads per month from the
current year's electronic journals);
iii. be able to purchase books published by the Institute of
Physics at Institute member rates.
The Affiliation Fees will be collected by the Polish Physical Society
and sent to the Institute of
Physics together with the names, addresses and email addresses of those
that have paid the Affiliation
Fee. The Affiliation Fee is set at an introductory rate of £10 per
person per year in 2002, but will be
£15 per person per year from 2003 to 2005 inclusive, after which it
may be revised by the Institute of
Physics. The Institute of Physics will notify the Polish Physical Society
of any change in the Affiliation Fee at least 12 months in advance of the
implementation of the change.
This agreement shall come into immediate effect on signature by both the
President of the Institute of Physics and the President of the Polish Physical Society
and shall remain in force until
either the Institute of Physics or the Polish Physical Society gives 12
months written notice of
termination or a wish to renegotiate the agreement.
This agreement does not change the cooperation agreement between the
Institute of Physics and
the Polish Physical Society, which came into force on 1 January 1995 and
remains in force until 12
months notice by either the Institute of Physics or the Polish Physical
Society. Neither does it affect
the arrangements which have been made by the Institute of Physics to
provide Fellowship of the
Institute free to 20 eminent Polish physicists and to provide £2000
per year for Polish physicists to
visit Britain or Ireland, and which remain in force until 31 December
2004.
